Is Free Willy inappropriate?
The MPAA rated Free Willy PG for some mild language.
Despite a clichéd plot and some ropey performances, this is still a well-made and entertaining children's film.
* Mature Themes: There's not much maturity here, from either the kids or the grown-ups. * Appropriate Ages: 5-10. FREE WILLY * What It's About: Jesse, a 12-year-old boy (Jason James Richter), befriends a captured orca. * Will Kids Want to Watch It?
The main character has a broken nose with some blood shown. Male and female characters kiss, a blonde "bombshell" NPC is shown off for her sex appeal (she's designed to be "arm candy"), and there's some sexual innuendo and sex-related dialogue.
There is a crude comment relating to male sexual arousal. Profanity: There is one use of extreme profanity, 15 uses of scatological cursing, and occasional use of mild profanities and terms of deity.
A few scattered uses of "hell" and "damn." Including several uses of "Goddamn."
The MPAA rating has been assigned for “bloody horror violence, and language throughout.” The Kids-In-Mind.com evaluation includes a few implied sex scenes, references to sex and teen pregnancy and several cleavage revealing outfits; many scenes of violence toward an animal and humans resulting in death in gruesome ways ...
Great film, but not for kids under 13
I recommend this film to everyone who loves slightly disturbing films and TV shows like me but for anyone under the age of 13 you really should not watch it. It's very gory and contains adult language.
Good family movie with good life lessons but probably too unsettling for under 11. This is a good family movie for parents with kids who are pre-teens. The language is typical PG one or two s-words, one GD and a couple hells and damns. Nothing too overwhelming.
You will only get out of this book the introduction to captain underpants, so I would recommend buying more than just the first book. Also it is rather a short book to read. I would recommend this book to 7 year olds and up (but not much older) or to be read to 6 year olds.
How do I teach my 6 year old about private parts?
Tell them, “If you want/need to talk about private parts, talk to Mommy or Daddy privately or within our house but not in public.” It's not only important to explain to kids that their parts are private, but that others' parts are private as well. We respect others by allowing them to keep their parts private.
